: Yay, I'm caught up. I'm liking it!

: Darn it, Astasia's going to be important. I had the impression that Azhkendir was a tiny unimportant country with weird magics - not that it would be an important politic linchpin so being Drakhaoul is going to matter on an international level. Azhkendir, Tielen, Muscobar...

That was the impression I had as well. I guess though that sometimes an insignificant place can have more political clout under the right circumstances.
: Volkh's murderer is identified as Arkhel's surviving heir - Arkhel (or an Arkhel clansmen?) being Kiukiu's rapist father as well. Ok, so that's going matter.

Yes, and I guess I was just bored with how this was brought to us. We're just flat out told.

: So is Dr. Kazimir dead or missing? Will he have discovered how to help Gavril? I'm going with yes - right before the trilogy ends. :)

I guess he will at that. This book is pleasent to read on a day where there isn't much else to do. Here, it's been pouring rain since before 6am. Otherwise, I wouldn't be happy with the book. The plot seems too typical and the charatcers are for me, a bit dull. Nobody stands out. The setting of the novel is wear it is different fromthousadns of other fantasy books, but that is it. And that's okay. It's a pleasent read. I was hoping for more, but I'll settle. *s*
