I know I'm gonna be in the minority when I say I've become a total convert to phpBB and now like it far better than threaded cgi/perl boards...but I'm an admin for one of the largest Kingdom of Loathing clans (200+ members), and phpBB is awesome for a bb website with very large numbers of posters and 24/7 activity.

For FFF, I think the current layout works, and besides which, everyone here is familiar with it. The only advantage I think a phpBB-style setup would give us is easier admin controls (i.e. deleting spam and the like). But I've never been involved in running a non-php board, so I can't say from personal experience.

Other than that...I think juli's got it, especially where blogs are concerned. I know that I don't post my rants here anymore (I hope people have forgotten them, though *ack*), because that's what my blogs are for. And I always loved the question-and-answer stuff, like QotD or Conundrum's quizzes. In fact, I think I like that kind of thing even more than actually discussing fantasy lit...it just feels more like bonding, you know? I'm probably not making much sense.

Patrick
