: I've read part of it. Can't remember what the last one I finished was but it was a couple of books away from the end at least. The series is alright, but I'm not that wild about it. It was supposed to be 5 originally I think but got lengthened to 7 eventually. I was not surprised as I had expected it to be that from the start considering some things in the books. One of the things that jars me out of it in a major way at times is her social and political setup. It's like she's annoyed at the patriarchal dominance in the rl world so she decides that the best way to illustrate the stupidity of that system is by using the exact opposite in her books and then showing how even then the men try to corrupt it or something. Either that or she hates religion in a major way. I could be way off but it always kicks me out a bit. I'll prolly get round to finishing it some time but I'm in no hurry.

: : hey, so anyone else read this series by Kate Elliott? I've been seeing it on the shelves for years and vaguely speculating about it, but I found the first 2 at the library last week and decided to give it a try.

: : I'm really getting into it! It has its strengths and weaknesses, but I've really been drawn into the story. The problem is, I got it in order to have reading on the commute to work, but now when I get to work I don't want to put it down....

: : I'm in the middle of the 2nd book right now, but unfortunately it looks like I might have to wait to get the 3rd from the library. Maybe I'll buy it.

: : I had a lucky break too - I just assumed because the first book was written ages ago that it was a finished series. Turns out it's a 7-book series and the last one was just published in February *lol* I'm really glad I don't have to get into the middle of yet another unfinished series!

I still need to read the last book. During book 2/3, I was really getting into some of the intricate plotting going on, but the book starts to unravel a bit later on. Or it may be that she just over extended the series. Still, much to enjoy, and much to annoy, heh.
