: : : And who on earth could possibly fall for that??? Haven't there been a gazillion documentaries or articles written about internet scams, to inform those who hadn't already figured it out?

: : Unfortunately, a lot of people fall for stuff like this. (See Flame Warriors: Typhoid Mary). The spammers don't care...if they net one idiot in ten thousand, that's still a lot of idiots when you consider how many people are online.

: : Back when I was the Harrassed Webmaster And Technical Assistant of KBTI I was shocked by how many of the students (mostly people who were very much old enough to know better) hadn't the faintest idea about security. We used to have to run spyware-killers on every computer in the network on a weekly basis (except my computer, from which I locked out everyone else except the boss and our head techie) because people were constantly visiting all sorts of stupid spam-riddled websites and being equally clueless with their email.

: : It was a very eye-opening (and wall-punching) experience.

: : On a happier computer-related note, I am now three days into my first computer science course, and I love it. I've also discovered that I loved Linux at first sight, and vi rocks.

: : :D

: : Patrick

: vi???? vi does NOT rock, silly! *lol* emacs, now that's where it's at.

: Liara
